Payments & Billing

  • A: For clients using our bookkeeping services, fees are structured as annual subscriptions that include a range of support and services. Payments are spread out monthly for ease and predictability.

    For all other service packages and stand-alone offerings, fees are billed as an estimated flat rate, quoted and paid upfront. We aim to honor the initial estimate, with adjustments only if the scope of work changes.

    For clients receiving ongoing messaging or call support, the fee structure may vary depending on the nature of the engagement and whether bookkeeping services are included.

  • A: For new clients, your subscription runs from your start date through the end of the current service cycle (January 31). Each package is a commitment through the end of the service cycle, with monthly payments offered for convenience. A Service Level and Pricing Agreement will outline the services included, the total fee, and the monthly payment amount.

    If your subscription includes monthly bookkeeping, a one-time onboarding fee will apply. This fee covers setting up your books and any necessary work to bring them up to date for the current period. The fee is tailored to the complexity of your records, so clients with simpler setups will pay less. If your subscription does not include bookkeeping services, this fee does not apply.

  • A: For returning clients, your annual subscription runs from February 1 – January 31 each year. Each package is an annual commitment, with monthly payments offered for convenience. A Service Level and Pricing Agreement will outline the services included, the total annual fee, and the monthly payment amount.

    To ensure a smooth transition, we will send a renewal Service Level and Pricing Agreement and Engagement Letter 25 to 40 days before the renewal or any fee change takes effect.

    This document will outline the proposed services and pricing for the upcoming subscription period.

  • A: Each subscription type has a minimum commitment period, which will stated in the Service Level and Pricing Agreement.

    After meeting the minimum commitment, you’re free to cancel, but no refunds or services will be provided for the remaining term once you’ve canceled, and you will not be obligated to pay any further fees.

Services & Approach

  • A: Model & Ledger offers standalone monthly bookkeeping services with the option to add on Form 1099 compliance services.

  • A: We are happy to work with reports from common third-party payroll service providers (e.g. Gusto, ADP, QuickBooks Payroll, etc.) to incorporate payroll-related data into your bookkeeping and tax filings. However, at this time, we do not handle payroll processing itself, which includes tasks like time tracking, paying employees, or sending payments to government entities.

    Leveraging a combination of these specialized payroll services with our offerings can help you address payroll needs while we focus on your bookkeeping.

  • A: We take data security seriously and prioritize it when selecting the tools and systems we use. We evaluate vendors and solutions carefully based on their security features, but we don’t provide specific details about our setup publicly.
